With the advances of materials and surface treatments, ceramic implants are becoming more versatile. Initially there were only one-piece ceramic implants that limited the clinicians only to cement-retained restorations. Nowadays, multiple ceramic implant manufacturers offer a wide array of prosthetic solutions, including locator type removable overdentures. The next advance in ceramic implantology would be the introduction of MUA type abutments that would allow for screw-retained fixed full arch restorations.
