This presentation centers on discussing optimal hard and soft tissue preservation following tooth extraction in the anterior maxilla. Methods for immediate implant placement and provisionalization of the site to seal the socket and provide an appropriate space for hard and soft tissue growth will be presented. Historically, the most successful treatment was considered to be a delayed implant placement for the best functional and esthetic results. Guiding the growth of the tissues has proven to not only be possible but, under the right circumstances, can produce superior results.
Learning Objectives:
Learn how to evaluate the extraction socket for viability of immediate implant placement and temporization
Learn how to preserve the architecture of the implant site through appropriate provisionalization or custom healing abutment
Learn to fabricate an immediate provisional restoration through hands-on learning
